There are hundreds of independent scholarship search engines on the Internet, some of them are more reliable and legitimate than others. Students should not have to pay for a scholarship search or to apply for a scholarship, though they may have to register with an email address. AffordableColleges.com provides an extensive listing of scholarships exclusively for minority students. This listing includes a detailed list of scholarships outlining the eligibility requirements, deadlines, and information on how to apply.

To make the process of finding financial aid for women and the best available scholarships easier, BestColleges.com has compiled a master listing of scholarships offered to women. Through public funding, private donors, special programs, and organizational sponsorships, colleges and universities are able to provide more and more financial aid for women each year. These scholarships for women not only minimize the burden of debt, but they also provide recipients with job-winning accolades and peace of mind.

College Answer is a great resource for understanding how to fund college. It offers resources for students and parents, complete with a great scholarship database. This site requires registration

College Board (the same company that administers the PSAT, SAT, and AP tests) has a great database that allows students to input details for a tailored search based on gender, location, interests, and affiliations. This site does not require registration.
