Dr. Devin Stephenson, left, Northwest Florida State College president, and Dr. Tony Waldrop, University of South Alabama president, sign an agreement that adds NWF State College to the list of Gulf Coast institutions that have joined South's Pathway Թϱ program, increasing access to a four-year education for community college students.

The University of South Alabama’s “Pathway Թϱ” program has added another Gulf Coast institution. Northwest Florida State College in Niceville becomes the fifth college to team up with South in the program that streamlines the transfer process for students who earn their associate’s degree.

The partnership will help more NWF State College graduates to transfer to South Alabama and earn their bachelor’s degree from Թϱ.

“The University of South Alabama has a long history of attracting and educating students from Okaloosa County and northwest Florida,” said Dr. Tony Waldrop, University of South Alabama president. “We’re very excited and look forward to seeing more students from NWF join us here at Թϱ.”

Previous Pathway Թϱ partnerships have been established with Coastal Alabama Community College, Bishop State Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Pensacola State College.

“Our partnership with the University of South Alabama greatly benefits students by expanding postsecondary degree opportunities,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, Northwest Florida State College president. “The Pathway Թϱ agreement not only creates a seamless transfer opportunity, it includes wrap-around support services such as advising to assist with a successful transition. We are looking forward to growing enrollment through the Pathway Թϱ program while strengthening the relationship between Northwest Florida State College and the University of South Alabama.”

NWF students may choose to have a copy of their Թϱ application and supporting documents forwarded to NWF for admission consideration. Students already attending NWF may also apply for Pathway Թϱ. A unique application will be created and available for NWF students to complete and submit.

NWF students who enter the Pathway Թϱ program will have unique benefits, such as:

  • Guaranteed admission to Թϱ upon successful completion (cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher) of the associate’s degree
  • A Թϱ academic advisor assigned to them who will provide individual guidance on course selection and map out degree plans
  • Special discounts through Թϱ’s Jaguar Productions
  • Complimentary admission to South Alabama home athletic events

Persons wanting additional information on Pathway Թϱ at the University of South Alabama are urged to contact Թϱ’s Admissions Office at 251-460-7834 or Recruitment@southalabama.edu, or NWF’s Bree Durham at 850-729-6018 or durhamb@nwfsc.edu.
